Welcome to Year 3's page. Please check back regularly to see galleries of what we have been doing in class as well as other useful documents. Below you will find the summer term's curriculum booklet as well as our current homework menu.
This term, PE will take place every Monday and Thursday. Children should have appropriate PE kit in school at all times. Earrings must be removed for all PE sessions.
Spellings will be set via Seesaw every Thursday. Please submit all other homework via Seesaw.

Religious Education
Religious Education
This term our topics are: Journeys, Listening and Sharing and Giving All. This will focus on our personal and Church journeys during the year before focusing on the Eucharist and finally on the Easter story.

English
This term, we will begin by creating non-chronological reports based on the book Flanimals. Following this, we will be using the fantasy story The Wolves in the Wall to investigate features of this genre before writing our own fantasy stories. We will also be looking at poetry and persuasive writing later in the term.

Mathematics
Mathematics
It is a busy term in Mathematics! We will befurthering our understanding of multiplication and division before completing units on Money, Statistics and Length and Perimeter. We will finish the term by beginning our work on Fractions.

In Art lessons we will be focusing on painting which will allow us to expand our learning about line, shape, form and tone in classic and modern art.

Computing
Computing
This term we will be learning about branching databases and how these can be useful in computing. We will then learn about the importance of sequences in coding using Scratch.

Design and Technology
Design and Technology
We will be learning about Kites which will give the children the opportunity to learn about frame structures, before designing and making their own kites.

The children will continue to learn French this term, revising the language that they have learned so far and expanding their understanding further to cover interesting and exciting new topics.

Geography
In Geography, we will begin our topic about Megacities and what this can teach us about migration.

History
This term we will complete our topic on Prehistoric Britain byfinding out about the Iron Age. We will draw comparisons with life in the Bronze and Stone Age as well as looking how our lives in the present day are different.

In Music we will be studying singing units of work from different genres as well as preparing for our Easter Production.

Physical Education
Physical Education
We will be completing our unit on gymnastics in the first half term before moving on to invasion games. Our Thursday lessons will be skills based games with Coach Niamh.

This term we will be focusing on the topics of Family and Friends and My Emotions which help us to understand more about our relationships with each other and how we can understand how we are feeling at different times.

Science

This term our focus will be Magnets which we will investigate through a range of practical investigations. We will follow this by studying the topic of Light and Shadow which will allow the children to investigate both inside and outside of the classroom.
