Year 3
Welcome to Year 3's page. Please check back regularly to see galleries of what we have been doing in class as well as other useful documents. Please send any necessary communication in with your child in their class wallet which will be checked daily.
Reading
It is encouraged that reading aloud is done every night and recorded using the Boom Reader app (login details have been sent home, but please ask if you are unsure.) Children are free to change their home-school reading books on Mondays and Thursdays.
Home-school reading books may be read through more than once. This will help your child to develop their fluency skills and give further chance for discussion.
Your child will also have the opportunity to bring home a library book of their choice.
As a school, we encourage children to enjoy a wide range of books so please encourage your child to read any books they find interesting at home and log these on the Boom Reader app alongside their school reader.
Spelling
Spelling in year 3 will be developed through the use of the Sounds Write scheme. Children will take part in daily spelling lessons to enable them to develop their understanding of spelling in both reading and writing. There will be no weekly spellings sent home for children to learn but spelling will be monitored closely in class throughout the year.
Times Table Rockstars
Children can access Times Table Rockstars at home via computer or tablet. They can play as often as they like, but are encouraged to play at least 3 times a week. Certificates for achievement will be handed out over the school year.
Homework
The homework menu for the autumn term is available below.
PE
For the first half of the Autumn term, PE will take place every Monday and Friday. After half term, PE will take place every Thursday and Friday. Children should have appropriate PE kit in school at all times. Please can earrings be removed for all PE sessions.
Thank you,
Mr Ellingham Mrs Verguson and Mrs Daynes
